MY unforgettable experience

In this article I am going to share my unforgettable experience to everyone who visit this blog. My experience in selling and marketing for the past 34 years of my career is induced me to share with the world of geniuses.

I worked for an office automation company selling of loose leaf binders (ledger sheets bounded and kept no wise or alphabet wise) which was normally supplied to banks only in a larger scale, amount to several lakhs.  A reputed nationalized bank not giving us encouragement and orders to our company and the task of breaking this customer is given to me.  Lot of my seniors has teased me and very sure of my resignation, but I decided to take it as a challenge and not bothered about any- body and started my Marketing visits.  I found out one Mr. Ramanathan who is a law officer dealing with binders and very strict and not interested to encourage new party’s and favors only regular supplier. I made more than 20 visits to get appointment, they discouraged me. In the mean while my HO is losing confidence on me and trying to do lot of politics with the local seniors.

One day I decided and went at 8.30 am and in front of the officer’s room in his peon bench and everybody was astonishing why this chap was sitting.  By 9.30 the concerned officer came I just went behind with him to his room and sat in front. He was shocked and shouting at me why you are disturbing me and what you want. I politely said you are a-different personality and I am also like you sir, and just wanted to see you in spite of my repeated request of appointment with you sir. I am happy I met you sir and started leaving his room. One second he smiled at me and asked me to sit (he was coming after me when I started leaving) and felt my feelings and said Seshadri you are a different personality and I like you and later got my orders worth of six lakhs of binders. And my MD was pleased.

Hence please be bold true and honest in meeting client’s and start thinking and analyze the clients and honestly till date I am learning the art of selling.
